GLENS FALLS — Four people were displaced by a three-alarm fire at an apartment building at the corner of Maple and Oak streets.
The call came in at about 6 p.m. for a report of a structure fire at 165 Maple St. Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the rear part of the multi-unit building.
One of the residents, Kaylee Phillips, said she had fallen asleep and awoke to someone banging on the door telling her to get out.
There are a total of five apartments in the building.
The smoke appeared to be coming from the roof line and a firefighter could be seen pulling down boards to reveal flames.
Glens Falls Fire Lt. Ric Stafford said about 16 firefighters were on the scene. They had the fire under control in about a half-hour, but there was extensive overhaul. The fire was in the ceiling in that rear bedroom.
The fire was contained to that room, according to Stafford.

“The guys did a fantastic job and made a great stop,” he said.
There was some smoke and water damage in other parts of the building, he added.
The apartment building is attached to Hallwear, the apparel company of former Mayor Dan Hall.
Firefighters left the scene at about 9 p.m. The cause is under investigation. Stafford said he does not believe it to be suspicious.
No one was injured. He said the displaced residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Bay Ridge Fire Department and the Warren County emergency services also assisted.
